Job summary

Dartmouth Public Schools in Massachusetts seeks a Food Service Worker for 7 hours per day (Mon-Fri, 7:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. during the school year).

The role supports meal preparation, serving, cashiering, and cleaning in the school kitchen, with responsibilities in food safety, portion control, and timely service. The position requires reliability, punctuality, and adherence to district policies. Training provided.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties related to preparation of food, serving of food, cashiering, and cleaning all areas of the kitchen or other assigned duties within the allotted time.
  • Log in through AESOP to enter daily attendance as early as possible if unable to report to work.
  • Follow all policies of the School Nutrition Department and instructions related to safety measures, sanitation practices, personnel standards, cash handling, work techniques, and methods of performing duties.
  • Assist with food preparation, including consistent portions of food, clean kitchen equipment and work area, set up serving counter, serve food on the line after receiving instructions related to serving portions.
  • Follow standards to check the temperature of food and equipment.
  • Follow meal pattern requirements in serving student meals.
  • Wash dishes, trays, flatware, pots, etc.
  • Unpack supplies and assist with stocking and organizing dry storage shelves, refrigerator and freezer, properly rotating stock using the first in first-out method.
  • Operate all kitchen equipment properly.
  • Prepare the kitchen for the opening and closing of the school year.
  • Perform any and all tasks assigned by a Supervisor or Lead.
  • Report to assigned school to substitute as needed.
  • Obey all instructions from the Cafeteria Supervisor or Lead.
