Job summary

Grand Lake Health System is seeking a casual food service worker to support daily meal service in our hospital cafeteria. You will assemble patient trays, assist with late trays, wash pots and pans, and help keep the kitchen and dining areas clean and sanitized.

Weekend rotation and scheduling flexibility are required. High school diploma preferred; prior food service experience is a plus. This is an At-Will position within a team focused on patient nutrition and service quality.

• Plans daily activities to ensure timely service and cleanup of meals.
• Portions and serves food neatly and attractively.
• Maintains portion control when serving.
• Covers, labels, and dates opened or leftover items.
• Assembles patient trays and serves cafeteria customers.
• Transports patient tray conveyors when needed.
• Retrieves dirty tray conveyors after meals.
• Performs ware washing functions as required.
• Keeps work area clean, sanitized and orderly.
• Cleans and sanitizes pots, pans, and utensils.

Hours of Job

• Casual - 1st and 2nd shifts (5:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.) (11:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.)
• As needed per pay period.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

• Plans daily activities (and/or assists co-workers, as needed) to ensure appropriate and timely service and clean up of meals.
• Portions/serves food neatly and attractively.
• Maintains established portion control when portioning/serving foods.
• Covers, labels, and dates all opened, prepped, or leftover food items placed in storage.
• Efficiently assembles patients' trays according to established procedure; assists with assembling late trays; efficiently serves cafeteria customers.
• Transports patient tray conveyors to patient units in absence of volunteers.
• Retrieves dirty tray conveyors following meal service
• Performs ware washing functions according to establish procedure.
• Keeps work area clean, sanitized, and orderly throughout the day.
• Cleans and sanitizes dirty pots, pans, and utensils.

Education/Certifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience

• Food service experience preferred.
