Job summary

NBK Bangor's Warrior Eatery is seeking a motivated team member to support daily food preparation and service. You will prepare pizzas, sandwiches, and other items, and ensure quality with proper portioning and ordering accuracy.

This role requires adherence to sanitation standards, ability to operate kitchen equipment, and basic cash handling. Training provided; must be reliable and work well in a fast-paced environment on site at NBK Bangor.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards, and safe work procedures.
  • Ability to measure ingredients and understand recipe construction.
  • Basic arithmetic to portion servings and counts.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and bakes pizzas from prepared ingredients, selecting correct amounts per order.
  • Grills burgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches; fries and related items as needed.
  • Packages prepared food for on-premise or off-premise consumption and serves customers.
  • Operates ovens, pizza makers, slicers, fryers, and other kitchen utensils.
  • Rings up sales on a cash register and processes daily receipts.
  • Maintains sanitation of equipment and work surfaces and keeps areas clean.
  • Cleans dishes and prep areas; returns items to storage and disposes waste.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Summary

Support the Military's Quality of Life programs! The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) provides fitness, recreation, lodging and food and beverage programs for service members, their families, retired military and civilian employees. This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Community Recreation, and Deployed Support Branch; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations command (CNIC);

Duties
Help
  • Prepares and bakes a variety of pizzas from prepared ingredients, selecting the correct amount of each ingredient for the pizza ordered, arranging and layering the ingredients as shown. Prepared sandwiches, including Italian sausage, meatball and submarines.
  • Performs tasks such as grilling hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, french fries, etc., by watching while the items are cooking, turning as required; regulating temperature and removing when done.
  • Packages prepared food for off-premise consumption or serves for on premise consumption. Operates and uses bake and holding ovens, pizza makers, slicers, fryers and miscellaneous kitchen utensils.
  • Rings up sales on a cash register and makes changes. Counts and turns in change funds and daily receipts.
  • Maintains concept environment, equipment, utensils and surfaces in a sanitary clean and neat condition.
  • In food preparation or food beverage service areas: Scrapes and pre-rinses dishes, glasses and flatware for washing. Separates food waste and trash. Loads dishes into dishwasher; hand washes dishes. Stacks and stores clean dishes. Scrapes, cleans, scrubs, washes or wipes ranges, ovens, fryers and urns. Cuts, scrapes, chops, dices or peels fruit and vegetables.
  • Removes soiled dishes, glasses and flatware from tables and carries to the dish washing area.
  • Cleans tables or paper, other trash or soiled linens and wipes table clean.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Ability to sustain considerable walking, standing, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must successfully obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance as needed.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge and understanding of food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards, and safe work procedures.
  • Knowledge of techniques for measuring ingredients and basic understanding of recipe construction.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic in order to count the number of table sand serving bowls required to determine the number of servings a container will yield.
  • Working knowledge of diet principles.
  • Working knowledge of sanitation standards and procedures to prevent contamination, such as the need to clean equipment previously used for raw food before further use and the need to use a chemical sanitizer or maintain proper water temperature when cleaning dishes.
  • Skill to perform tasks involving several procedures.
  • Skill to overcome practical production problems, evaluate final food products, and initiate corrective action when an item does not meet established quality standards.
  • Skill to develop standardized recipes for quantity cooking; able to expand and modify recipes according to the capacity of the equipment in the kitchen as well and in response to adjustments in the number of servings required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, and possess strong interpersonal communication skill.

Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period.
