Job summary

NBK Bangor is seeking a customer-focused cafeteria assistant to support Navy Region Northwest Fleet and Family Readiness. You will prepare and serve snacks and beverages, manage stock, and operate a cash register while keeping a clean, welcoming dining area for service members and families.

Responsibilities include replenishing baked goods, arranging displays, recording cash receipts, and assisting with inventory. Prior food service experience and the ability to follow instructions are preferred.

• Performs tasks involved in preparing and serving customers with snacks and beverages including coffee and made to order espresso beverages.
• Orders food items to be sold (ie. Muffins, biscotti, snacks, etc.) and ensures retail stock is replenished as needed.
• Arranges items in an appealing marketing display for sale.
• Operates cash register and prepares necessary documentation for cash funds accountability.
• May assist in taking inventory.
• Performs housekeeping tasks and is accountable for maintaining a safe, clean workplace.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate.
• Work involves moderate physical effort in frequently lifting or moving objects weighing up to 30 pounds.

• Must use judgment in sequencing tasks and be able to concentrate on uniform individual portions and to avoid distraction when serving several people at a time.
• Must have an understanding of personal hygiene standards and simple food handling techniques.
• Knowledge of basic arithmetic and cash handling techniques.Must have working knowledge and cleaning maintenance of the coffee machines.
• Exercise tact, good manners and courtesy when serving and assisting both customers and employees.
