Job summary

Kent School is seeking a dining hall attendant to cover shifts across stations including salad bar, pizza station, and hot line, with responsibilities for prep, stocking, bagging, and maintaining equipment during lunch and dinner service.

You'll work in a busy campus cafeteria environment, follow safety and allergen labeling procedures, and be prepared to train at different stations. This full-time, on-site role starts ASAP and offers an opportunity to join a dedicated dining team.

Responsibilities

• Training will be provided for each station.
• Dining hall attendant maintains juice machines, cereal/toaster bar and pulling trash.
• Pizza station and hot line involves making pizzas and monitoring pasta bar during lunch and maintaining the hot line for dinner.
• Salad bar position requires cutting produce, stock and maintaining salad bar during lunch and dinner.
• During down time, assist with basic food preparation for the hot line.
• Maintain station refrigerators and storage areas and ensure allergens are labeled.

Schedule/Travel:

Full-time, calendar- or academic-year position available. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 10:15 am-7 pm, Saturday 6 am-2:30 pm, Sunday 7:30 am-4 pm (includes a ½ hour unpaid lunch period). Additional hours may be required. Schedule may vary according to department and Kent School needs.

Position Summary:

Work at different stations to cover other’s days off; Monday salad bar, Tuesday and Wednesday pizza station and hot line, Saturday and Sunday dining hall attendant.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

• Training will be provided for each station.
• Dining hall attendant maintains juice machines, cereal/toaster bar and pulling trash.
• Pizza station and hot line involves making pizzas and monitoring pasta bar during lunch andmaintaining the hot line for dinner.
• Salad bar position requires to cut produce, stock and maintain salad bar during lunch and dinner.
• During down time, be responsible for basic food preparation to help the hot line.
• Maintain station refrigerators and storage areas.
• Ensure all items are labeled for allergens and identification
• Maintain a clean and safe environment, according to federal, state, and local sanitation requirements.
• Perform other duties as needed and assigned.

Qualifications:

Culinary degree or a combination of education and work experience in related fields, preferably in a busy cafeteria style environment. Servsafe certification is required (will be provided within year of employment, if needed).

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, working with various audiences (Faculty, Staff, and Students)
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage time effectively.
• Work well under pressure.
• Able to work independently and make sound decisions with flexibility/adaptability, and have a calm demeanor.
• Willingness to help team members if needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires being on their feet for extended periods and climbing stairs.
• Ability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs. without assistance.

Additional Requirements:

• Successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment criminal background checks and drug test.
• Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
• Work is performed on a smoke-free campus.
