Job summary

PIH Health Whittier Hospital is seeking a Food Service Aide to assist with patient meal trays, hot and cold entrees, salads, desserts and supplements; and to take and log temperatures. You will load trays into meal carts and deliver to nursing stations, while maintaining HACCP standards in a patient-centered kitchen.

Requirements include reading, writing and speaking English; six months in food service preferred; high school diploma preferred but not required; knowledge of modified diets

Responsibilities

• Serve patient meal trays and deliver to nursing station.
• Takes and logs hot and cold food temps on trayline as well as dishmachine and refrigerator/freezer temps.
• Loads patient trays into meal carts and delivers meals to patients and nursing stations.
• Performs cleaning tasks including detail cleaning, washing dishes, and pots and pans.
• Complies with HACCP food safety standards and maintains clean work areas.

Performs a variety of tasks associated with the serving of patient meal trays, hot and cold entrees, salads, sandwiches, desserts and supplements. Takes and logs hot and cold food temps on trayline as well as dishmachine and refrigerator/freezer temps. Loads patient trays into meal carts and delivers meal carts/late trays for patients to nursing station. Performs a variety of cleaning tasks including detail cleaning, washing dishes, and pots and pans. Responsible for stocking and cleaning work areas. Works on patient trayline to include set-up and service as well as breakdown and sanitation. Complies with food safety (HACCP) standards. May be asked to do other tasks associated with food service as the need arises.
