Job summary

PIH Health is hiring for a patient meal service role at its Whittier location. You will prepare and serve meals and snacks to patients, monitor temperatures, and ensure accurate portioning and dietary modifications as needed.

Responsibilities include delivering trays, loading carts, washing dishes, stocking areas, and maintaining HACCP sanitation standards. Evening shifts and on-site work are required.

Qualifications

• Must follow standardized recipes and portion control protocols.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English.
• Six months experience in food services preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of modified diets helpful.

Responsibilities

• Serve patient meal trays, hot and cold entrees, salads, sandwiches, desserts and supplements.
• Log food temperatures on trayline and monitor dishmachine, refrigerator and freezer temps.
• Load trays into meal carts and deliver to nursing stations; assist with late trays.
• Maintain clean work areas and perform dishwashing, pots and pans cleaning.
• Adhere to HACCP and food safety standards; assist with other food service tasks as needed.

Job description

Performs a variety of tasks associated with the serving of patient meal trays, hot and cold entrees, salads, sandwiches, desserts and supplements. Takes and logs hot and cold food temps on trayline as well as dishmachine and refrigerator/freezer temps. Loads patient trays into meal carts and delivers meal carts/late trays for patients to nursing station. Performs a variety of cleaning tasks including detail cleaning, washing dishes, and pots and pans. Responsible for stocking and cleaning work areas. Works on patient trayline to include set-up and service as well as breakdown and sanitation. Complies with food safety (HACCP) standards. May be asked to do other tasks associated with food service as the need arises.
