Job summary

PIH Health Downey Hospital is seeking a patient meal service aide to assemble and deliver trays, logs temps, and support the dining operation. You will follow standardized recipes, monitor portion sizes, and help maintain clean, safe food service areas.

Comfort with English reading/writing is required; a high school diploma is preferred. Six months of food service experience is a plus, and knowledge of modified diets is helpful for patient accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Serve patient meals on trayline, including hot/cold entrees, salads and desserts.
• Take and log hot/cold food temperatures on trayline and on refrigerators/freezers.
• Deliver meal carts to nursing stations and assist with tray setup and service.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, dishes, pots and pans.

Job description

Performs a variety of tasks associated with the serving of patient meal trays, hot and cold entrees, salads, sandwiches, desserts and supplements. Takes and logs hot and cold food temps on trayline as well as dishmachine and refrigerator/freezer temps. Loads patient trays into meal carts and delivers meal carts/late trays for patients to nursing station. Performs a variety of cleaning tasks including detail cleaning, washing dishes, and pots and pans. Responsible for stocking and cleaning work areas. Works on patient trayline to include set-up and service as well as breakdown and sanitation. Complies with food safety (HACCP) standards. May be asked to do other tasks associated with food service as the need arises.
