Food Service Worker - Per diem opening
Summary:

In accordance with regulatory requirements, performs all duties associated with providing food service to in-patients and retail areas, including food preparation, distribution, and equipment sanitization. Responsible for utilizing consumable products, maintaining schedules, and meeting daily volume requirements of the department.

Responsibilities:
Food Handling:
  • Prepares simple hot/cold food products and serves portioned food to patients, visitors, and staff, in accordance with HACCP procedures.
  • Dates and labels all products moving through work/production areas.
  • Handles foods and equipment properly to ensure infection control and safety.
Clean/Organized Environment:
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary work area. Cleans equipment, tables, and food service areas using appropriate chemicals and procedures. Reassembles equipment after cleaning.
  • Cleans and sanitizes all service ware, pots, walls, floors, ceilings, and related areas using power equipment.
  • Manages services, supplies, and equipment to ensure effective and economical use, including portioning and storage of food.
  • Demonstrates neat and orderly receiving, issuing, and rotation of stock and supplies.
Retail/Customer Service:
  • Attends to the needs of patients and customers, providing friendly and competent service. Maintains a pleasant disposition at all times.
  • Handles money accurately when working registers. Accountable for receipts, merchandise, and equipment.
Compliance:
  • Performs duties in accordance with city and state health codes and Joint Commission regulations.
  • Follows HACCP guidelines daily.
  • Practices personal hygiene according to dress code standards.
  • Reports infection control issues or violations promptly.
  • Adheres to Penn Medicine policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the team.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
  • High School Degree (Preferred)
  • Food Service and/or Sanitation Experience (0-1 years, Preferred)
  • Cash Handling Experience (Preferred)
  • Sanitation Certification (Preferred)
