Job summary

The Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs is seeking a Food Support Worker to join our dietary team in Saint Augustine, FL. The incumbent will help store, prepare, serve, and ensure sanitary conditions for all meals, with responsibilities including dish room upkeep, stock management, and assisting with meal preparation.

Candidates must be able to lift 50 pounds, work weekends/holidays, and pass a Level II background check and drug test.

Qualifications

• Ability and willingness to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability and willingness to work weekends and holidays as needed.
• Ability and willingness to work overtime, if necessary.
• Basic computer skills.
• Successful completion of a Level II background check and drug test.
• Experience working in dietary at a long-term care facility.

Responsibilities

• Ensure food is stored, prepared, distributed, and served under sanitary conditions.
• Maintain all kitchen areas in an orderly, sanitary condition.
• Complete assigned cleaning tasks.
• Assist in meal preparation and setting up, serving meals.
• Have knowledge of cooking, baking, and meat cutting equipment and procedures.
• Read and follow recipes and instructions.
• Record food and equipment temperatures in the temperature book.
• Report faulty equipment to the supervisor.
• Assist with stocking serving lines and maintaining inventory.
• Assist with purchasing requests for kitchen supplies and food items.
• Verify incoming shipments when stock person is absent.
• Check in and store stock from deliveries.
• Rotate stock across dry storage, refrigerators, and freezers.
• Ensure all equipment is turned off and doors locked at night.
• Replenish hand soap and paper towels in dispensers.
• Attend in-service training and perform other duties as assigned.
