University of Michigan’s Michigan Dining is hiring a Food Service Worker I to perform meal prep and service in a fast-paced kitchen or service area. You will follow standardized recipes, set up workstations, assist cooks, and maintain HACCP-compliant cleanliness and safety practices.

The role offers a year-round 40-hour week schedule and benefits, with an hourly wage reflecting $19.09–$20.25. Eligible for AFSCME union terms and related protections.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in English and ability to interpret instructions.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends & holidays.
• Understand and implement OSEH and HACCP standards and minimize waste.
• Maintain a static position for extended periods.
• Routinely move items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Follow standardized recipes for meals in back-of-house or front-of-house stations.
• Set up assigned work stations and manage receiving and storage of supplies.
• Assist cooks and bakers with routine food preparation tasks.
• Trim and slice cooked meats and cheeses.
• Clean and process raw vegetables and fruits.
