Job summary

University of Michigan in Ann Arbor is seeking a Kitchen Cleaner for Michigan Dining–Mary Markley Hall. You will keep the kitchen clean by removing waste, sweeping and mopping, cleaning equipment, filtering fryers, cleaning hood vents and drains, and washing dishes.

You will work with others to maintain a safe, sanitary kitchen per HACCP standards. Shift details: Monday–Friday 12:50 PM to 9:20 PM; year-round, 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in English and ability to interpret instructions.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends & holidays.
• Ability to assemble, disassemble, and operate kitchen equipment.
• Understand and implement HACCP and health codes.

Job description

Job Summary

When business needs fluctuate throughout the year, Michigan Dining will offer work assignments based on availability and selected through the seniority-driven bidding process. Work assignments may be required in other departments to ensure year-round work schedules for all staff members that want that, seasonal leave requests may be approved on a year by year basis at the unit discretion.

What You'll Do

As a Kitchen Cleaner for Michigan Dining you will maintain a clean kitchen by removing trash, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning equipment, filtering fryers, cleaning hood vents and drains, and washing dishes, pots, pans. Assist and work with other kitchen cleaners and staff performing general cleaning of kitchen areas and maintain a clean work environment following HACCP standards and health codes.

Required Qualifications*

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in English and ability to interpret instructions.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends & holidays.
• Ability to assemble, disassemble, and operate kitchen equipment.
• Ability to understand and implement OSEH and HACCP physical and food safety standards and use resources responsibly, and recognize and minimize waste.
• Maintain a static position for extended periods of time.
• Routinely move items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Modes of Work

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday: 12:50PM to 9:20PM

Saturday - Sunday: Off
