Job summary

Southern Illinois Medical Services NFP is hiring for a patient-focused food service role in Carbondale, IL. The position covers meal preparation, patient tray service, and basic catering for patients, visitors and staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Food Service Manager Certification within 30 days of hire (SJMH only).
• Food Service Handlers Certification.
• Food Allergens Certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintains clean work area following safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Enters and reports cash transactions.
• Adjusts meals to meet the needs of the patient while following doctor's orders.
• Keeps all work areas adequately stocked with food, condiments, beverages and service ware.
• Washes dishes and utensils following Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines in all actions.
• Delivers and retrieves trays using required patient identifiers in all interactions.
• Attractively and accurately assembles patient trays.
• Follows established portion control guidelines when serving food and beverages.
• Responsible for service to retail operations.
• Prepares meals using approved food sanitation practices
• Sweeps and mops floors using approved methods.

Position Summary

Experience and Skills

Technical Experience: 6 months, preferred

Physical Activities

• Intermittent hand manipulation required
• Intermittent lifting and carrying of 50 pounds
• Required to stand for periods of up to 4 hours
