Odyssey House seeks a Food Service Worker to prepare and serve meals at our Wards Island and East Harlem locations. Under supervision, you will ensure safe food handling and maintain clean dining areas in compliance with health codes.

The role requires a DHMH Food Protection certificate, a year of culinary experience, and flexibility to work a 35-hour week with on-call availability. We offer comprehensive benefits and competitive salary for the nonprofit sector in New York.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience in the culinary field.
• Must have a valid DHMH Qualifying Certificate in Food Protection.
• Proficiency with computer operations (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Flexibility to work a varying schedule and be on-call.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook nutritious meals as assigned by Head Cook.
• Ensure compliance with state and local health codes for sanitation and safety.
• Maintain dining area cleanliness and organize service areas.
• Assist with receiving deliveries and storage management.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in quality improvement activities.
• Perform other duties as requested.
