Job summary

NYC Health + Hospitals is seeking a dedicated Food Service Worker to support patient meals, tray delivery and dining room operations across our facilities. You will prepare and assemble meals, ensure proper temperatures, and assist in cleaning and sanitation to maintain a safe hospital kitchen environment.

This role requires the ability to read and follow simple instructions, a High School Diploma or GED, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write English and to understand and carry out simple instructions.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Willing to work in a refrigerator/freezer.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assemble meals for patients and support daily food service operations.
• Deliver trays to patients and collect soiled trays for the kitchen.
• Assist in cooking operations and prepare between-meal nourishment as directed.
• Clean kitchen and dining areas; wash, sanitize and sterilize dishes and surfaces.
• Maintain stock levels and assist with stocking supplies and equipment.
• Move and handle food stock and cleaning supplies as part of the team.
