Job summary

Austintown Middle School, Youngstown, OH, seeks a Food Service Worker for a 3-hour shift (9:45 am–12:45 pm) to support meal preparation and service in the district cafeteria.

The role requires basic computer skills, prior food service experience, and the ability to lift 30–50 pounds. The position offers starting pay of $14.84 per hour and reports to the Food Service Director and Kitchen Manager.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains daily and monthly records, inventories, invoices, and reports deficiencies of products/supplies.
• Participates in meal preparation including menus, ordering food, supplies, equipment, preparation, serving, cashiering, and cleanup.
• Follows approved menus and recipes for preparing food.
• Must use a computer, including POS software, email and web browsing.
• Handles daily revenues, cash drawer, and recording of funds.
• Reports any problems or accidents to the Kitchen Manager/ Food Service Director.
• Complies with food safety regulations and district policies.
• Attends meetings and trainings as directed by the Food Service Director.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Kitchen Manager and Food Service Director.

Contracted Hours: 3-hours
Report times: 9:45 am to 12:45 pm (base hours listed but may vary based on the needs of the kitchen)
Salary: $14.84 per hour starting rate in accordance with the OAPSE negotiated salary schedule
Reports to: Food Service Director and Kitchen Manager

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Prepares and maintains daily and monthly records, inventories, invoices, and reports deficiencies of any product and/or supplies
• Participates in the preparation of meals including menus, ordering food,supplies &necessary equipment, preparation, serving, cashiering, and clean-up
• Follows approved menus and standardized recipes for preparing food
• Must be able to use a computer, including Point of Sale software, email and web browsing
• Responsible for daily revenues including daily drawer cash count and recording of all monies
• Immediately reportany problems or accidents occurring in the kitchen or cafeteria area to the Kitchen Manager or Food Service Director
• Follows all federal, state, and local food safety regulations, USDA child nutrition regulations, and all district and department policies and procedures
• Attends meetings and trainings as directed by the Food Service Director
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager and Food Service Director

The successful candidate must have the following on file before starting:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Favorable current State (BCII) and Federal (FBI) background checks
• Enrollment in Ohio Rapback System
• Ohio Auditor of State Fraud Reporting and Training
• Negative drug screen
