THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Food Service Worker, you will perform routine meal preparation and ensure the sanitation of serving areas at the Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Home. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, work surfaces, and other kitchen items. You will also prepare trays, measure portions, serve food, and transport trays and carts. This position requires frequent use of kitchen equipment such as mixers, dicers, slicers, knives, and grinders.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 5:30 AM to 1:30 PM, Friday - Tuesday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will have Wednesdays and Thursdays off.
• Telework: Not available for this position.
• Salary: Starting salary may be non-negotiable in some cases.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

Qualifications

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Additional Requirements:

• Willingness and ability to work in Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania
• Willingness and ability to work a full-time schedule
• Willingness and ability to work 5:30 AM to 1:30 PM
• Food service experience in assisted living, nursing home, hospital, restaurant, or similar setting
• Experience interacting with patients, residents, or customers while serving food or cleaning in patient/resident rooms or dining areas
• Experience with food safety and sanitation in a dietary department

• A medical examination will be required following a conditional offer of employment.
• This position is covered under the Older Adult Protective Services Act, requiring submission and approval of criminal history reports, including PA State Police and FBI clearance.
