THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services is actively seeking a Food Service Worker to be a part of our Dietary Team at Clarks Summit State Hospital. In this position, you will be instrumental in meal preparation and service, contributing to a safe, clean, and inviting atmosphere for our guests. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

You will engage in various tasks related to food service, preparation, and sanitation within the dietary operation on a rotating schedule. This includes assisting with minor food preparation and service for special dietary events as directed by the Food Service Supervisor. Additionally, you will be responsible for assembling items in the supplemental nourishment and snack area, utilizing the current patient census for distribution across all patient units. Your duties will also involve preparing simple menu items, such as broth and sandwiches, as well as managing the preparation of bagged meals when necessary.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, Sunday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch, every third weekend off
  • Schedule may change based on operational needs
  • Overtime and travel as needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
