The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking Wage Grade 3 Food Service Workers responsible for meal service, sanitation, and kitchen operations. Full training is provided, and applicants must demonstrate relevant experience. Duties include serving meals and maintaining cleanliness.
Wage Grade 3 Food Service Workers are responsible for setting up, serving, and delivering meals either on patient trays bedside or in dining room settings. They handle all sanitation and cleaning responsibilities associated with meal service and kitchen operations, including cleaning dining rooms, dishes, pots and pans, equipment, and delivery trucks. They also collect and assemble restock supplies, nourishments, and perform basic food preparation and portioning. Full training for the position is provided.

Experience: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must demonstrate evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality to perform the duties of this position. Such evidence should be detailed in your resume. Applicants will be rated according to the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.
Screen-out element: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen-out element, typically question 1 in the online questionnaire. Applicants meeting this minimum will be considered for further rating; those who do not will be rated ineligible and eliminated. Eligible applicants will then be rated based on the following job elements:
Experience includes paid, unpaid, and volunteer work (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps). Volunteer work can build critical skills and provide valuable experience. All qualifying experience will be credited.
Note: A full year of work is considered 35-40 hours per week. Part-time experience will be credited proportionally. Applicants must clearly indicate the duties, responsibilities, and hours worked per week in each position.
