Position details: Part-time, twenty (20) hours per week, Monday - Friday, 9:30am-1:30pm.

Job Description
GENERAL PURPOSE

The Food Service Worker 1 -- Part-Time at the Slate Belt Senior Center is responsible for checking the daily delivery of food to verify that meals are delivered on schedule, in the correct amounts, that temperatures are within safe ranges, and that the meal quality is acceptable through personal observation and discussions with program participants.

Supervision

This position reports directly to the Center Director and does not supervise other employees.

Essential Duties
  1. Record food temperatures daily.
  2. Prepare beverages and serve soup, juice, and portions.
  3. Supervise food service sanitation and portion control.
  4. Serve trays and beverages to clients.
  5. Maintain cleanliness of tables and kitchen, including washing dishes and cleaning appliances.
  6. Assist with inventory and volunteer recruitment.
  7. Perform general cleaning and maintenance tasks in the center.
  8. Assist with paperwork and communication as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understanding and implementation of regulations.
  • Knowledge of sanitation standards.
  • Ability to supervise volunteers and communicate effectively.
  • Basic math skills and ability to handle emergencies.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Tools and Equipment
  • Cleaning tools, washing and cooking machines.
Physical Demands

Frequent walking, sitting, talking, hearing; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations available.

Work Environment

Noise level is noisy, typical of a kitchen setting.
