Summary
This Food Service Worker position is located within the Nutrition & Food Service at the VA Medical Center in Portland, OR.
Duties
Major duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Preferred Experience: Within the last five years, one or more years of experience in hospital or long-term care Nutrition and Food Service.
Work Schedule: Thursday - Monday; 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (PST).

Physical Effort and Work Conditions: Work is performed in kitchen areas with high temperatures and humidity from cooking and dishwashing equipment. Tasks may include heavy work like scrubbing large utensils and moving heavy carts. Continuous standing, walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending are required. Lifting objects up to 20 pounds regularly and over 40 pounds with assistance occasionally.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date, 05/21/2025. Experience will be rated according to OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications, using the job element method. Your experience, including volunteer work, must be detailed in your resume to support your application. The screening-out element is the ability to perform work without more than normal supervision, including experience in food prep, serving, cleaning, and knowledge of diets and food terminology.
Education: No substitution for this series/grade.
