Position Summary
The food service worker supports daily food production operations in a school kitchen that serves students.
The position is responsible for preparing ingredients, assembling food items, serving students meals, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
The ideal candidate is reliable, energetic, and able to work efficiently as part of a team to meet daily production goals.
Schedule and Hours
This part-time position follows the Woodridge SD 68 school calendar and starts in August. Monday – Friday 8 am to 1 pm. No nights, weekends, or holidays.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare fruits, vegetables, and other menu items according to standardized recipes and meal schedules.
- Wash, cut, portion, cook, and package food products for distribution.
- Assist with meal assembly and service to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met.
- Label, date, and store food products following food safety guidelines.
- Operate kitchen equipment including ovens, steam tables, and knives.
- Maintain clean and organized workstations throughout the shift.
- Follow HACCP procedures and document food temperatures as required.
- Assist with receiving deliveries and stocking inventory using FIFO procedures.
- Support cooks with food preparation and other duties as assigned.
- Work efficiently to meet production deadlines.
- Adhere to all company, local, state, and federal food safety and sanitation guidelines.
Qualifications
- Previous food service, restaurant, cafeteria experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality required.
- School Safe Certified or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
- Must pass federal background check.
- Ability to read, speak, and comprehend English.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive hand movements.
- Ability to work in a loud, fast‑paced kitchen environment.
