Description:

SUMMARY:

Performs a variety of food service tasks including meal assembly, meal delivery, dishwashing, and handling metal ware.

Pay starting at: $15.59 or higher based on experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Set-up and clean-up of tray line assembly areas, including hot and cold food items, silverware, dishes, napkins, salads, desserts, breads, and beverages.
• Prepare work stations by stocking necessary food and non-food items and equipment.
• Operate tray assembly stations and read tray tickets to ensure correct food items are provided.
• Load trays onto delivery carts.
• Remove soiled trays from patient units and serve patient and customer trays.
• Operate elevator to deliver and pick-up carts at patient care units and outpatient clinics.
• Transport food service supplies to patient rooms and outpatient clinics as needed.
• Deliver meals to patients’ bedsides and assist with their needs, responding to concerns and requests.
• Communicate with portable telephones to ensure patient needs are met.
• Operate dishwashing machinery, clean equipment, and sanitize kitchen areas and utensils.
• Maintain cleanliness of all metal ware, cookware, and utensils.
• Prepare simple foods such as sandwiches and salads if required.
• Maintain records related to tray delivery and pick-up schedules.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Three to six months of on-the-job training or relevant experience.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math calculations.
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods, up to 100% of the workday.
• Ability to lift and push up to 50 lbs.
• Attention to detail and concentration for up to 50% of work time.

• Effective interpersonal communication skills with staff, other departments, and patients.
