Nutrition Services Assistant - Food Service Worker

Purpose:

Prepares and portions all cold food items, including salads, desserts, and beverages, for patient and employee feeding. Sets up and serves hot and cold food on patient lines and in the cafeteria. Cleans cold food area, serving tables, refrigerated units, and equipment.

Responsibilities:

1. Prepares supplemental feedings accurately for patients as specified.
2. Transports and disposes of waste properly using the compactor.
3. Maintains a sanitary and organized work area, including cleaning equipment and utensils.
4. Follows proper food handling procedures according to FDA guidelines, including temperature control and glove use.
5. Prepares and portions cold foods accurately, follows proper rotation, and records production and unused items.
6. Operates, loads, and cleans the dish machine, and maintains chemical levels.
7. Uses a floor scrubber with appropriate pads and chemicals.
8. Inspects dishes and flatware for cleanliness and stores them properly.
9. Properly uses Power Pal for transporting food carriers.
10. Loads, boosts, and places food carts on nursing units following proper procedures.
11. Handles food according to sanitation regulations.
12. Serves on equipment after proper servicing and cleaning.
13. Prepares, delivers, and sets up food for special functions and coffee breaks.
14. Checks and replenishes supplies in inpatient nursing units and non-patient areas.
15. Sets up cafeteria service areas and salad bars, and stores desserts properly.
16. Reports equipment malfunctions.
17. Maintains cleanliness of food carts and equipment.
18. Ensures proper storage and documentation of supplies and food items.
