Food Service Technician II – Nutrition Services – Metropolitan State Hospital (Position # 487-549-2193-XXX)

Work Location: Los Angeles County, Norwalk (DSH – Metropolitan). Telework: In Office.

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time. Salary: $3,492.00 - $4,373.00 per annum.

Job Description and Duties

• Under the supervision of the Food Service Supervisor I/II, instruct, lead, and coordinate the kitchen and dining service.
• Prepare, pre‑dish, and assemble food and beverages for patient meals.
• Clean and sanitize all food‑service equipment, dining tables, and chairs.
• Label and date food items using FIFO method and ensure correct meal ticket items.
• Portion food accurately according to diet orders, including modified diet texture and liquid texture specifications.
• Ensure cold food items are served below 40°F and hot items above 165°F.
• Assist the loading and unloading of meal delivery carts and transit carts on refrigerated trucks between the Central Kitchen and dining rooms.
• Receive weekly food and non‑food orders from the Central Kitchen and store them in dining room pantries.
• Follow Nutrition Services Policy and HACCP procedures and other standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

Applicants must have one of the following permanency statuses: permanent civil service status, employment list eligibility, transfer eligibility, or reinstatement eligibility.
