Description

COMHAR's Long Term Structured Residences (LTSR) has an immediate opening for a Food Service Technician. LTSRs are therapeutic programs designed to provide 24/7 residential and intensive treatment supports for adults with psychiatric and health-related needs.

Responsibilities:

• The Food Technician/trainer works within a recovery framework, assisting in building cooking skills, nutritional meal planning, cultural competence, and trauma-informed care to support individuals' recovery goals.
• Prepare residents' meals, ensuring a balanced and nutritious diet, in collaboration with nursing staff and considering individual dietary needs. Maintain documentation of special diets.
• Plan weekly menus at least one week in advance for review by the Nurse Manager, post menus within the LTSR, and maintain the menu file.
• Train individuals in nutrition, menu planning, food preparation, storage, safety standards, food shopping, and inventory management through group and individual sessions, preparing them for less restrictive settings.
• Maintain a clean, safe kitchen and storage areas, including wet mopping after each shift.
• Order and shop for food supplies in partnership with individuals, label incoming supplies, and maintain inventory records.
• Ensure all food purchasing complies with budget constraints, providing lists for approval.
• Partner with individuals to serve meals, set and dismantle tables, and clean up post-meal.
• Prepare tray services for residents unable to dine in the dining room.
• Secure kitchen knives and dangerous appliances when not in use.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma and Safe Serve Certificate
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work well with people, creative problem-solving skills, knowledge of behavioral health systems and community resources, ability to work independently, and flexibility in a fast-paced environment. Computer skills required.
