Job summary

The Wisconsin Union is recruiting for a shift supervisor! The position is part of the team that oversees some of our most popular venues in the Memorial Union: Lakefront Lounge, Daily Scoop, Strada, and the summer terrace BBQ stand.

Job duties include overseeing quality food preparation and presentation, guiding staff, training student workers, and delivering strong customer service while supporting on-floor operations as needed.

  • Previous restaurant experience
  • Preferred supervisory or lead role experience
  • ServSafe certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Alcohol Server License or ability to obtain within 6 months

Job Summary

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds occasionally needed
  • Ability to work outside in inclement weather needed.
Work Schedule and Location

This position is scheduled to work a combination of days, nights and weekends, with 2 days off in a row.

Operational and work schedules will be closely aligned with the services and customer needs of our units. As a result, work schedules will be adjusted during specific times of the year to meet demand.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Enforcement of State and Local drinking laws and University policies and procedures.
  • Assigns and coordinates the day-to-day activities of food service staff
  • Leads and provides exceptional customer service, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation, catering, and associated activities
  • Other duties as described and assigned by supervisor
  • Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods

Compensation

The expected starting salary is 22.50/ hour. This position is also eligible for weekend and night differential pay.
