The position is on-site in a jail, reporting to a Food Service Director. A high school diploma or GED is required, with preferred experience in institutional food service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required and must be at least 18 years old.
• Preferred experience in institutional food service or restaurant.
• Ability to work in a jail/correctional facility and supervise inmate labor.

Responsibilities

• Manage inmate labor and kitchen team during food prep and service shifts.
• Serve meals according to planned schedules and department procedures.
• Use kitchen utensils and equipment to cook and portion meals to meet nutritional needs.
• Train other food service workers.
• Promote a healthy and safe work environment for staff and inmates.
• Physical requirements include lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
