Job description

Join to apply for the Food Service Supervisor role at State of Missouri.

This is a first-level supervisory food service position responsible for overseeing food preparation and service in a youth treatment program managed by the Missouri Division of Youth Services.

Responsibilities include:

1. Preparing or supervising meal preparation using commercial kitchen equipment.
2. Maintaining food service records.
3. Completing requisitions for food and supplies.
4. Following dietetic principles to coordinate and audit meals.
5. Lifting or carrying large portions of food or ingredients.
6. Working long hours standing in a kitchen environment, possibly in high temperatures.

Supervisory duties:

1. Managing operations of a small to moderate kitchen or shift supervision in a larger kitchen.
2. Training and directing food service staff and offenders.
3. Evaluating staff and helpers in food preparation and service.
4. Monitoring safety and sanitation standards.
5. Developing nutritious, well-balanced menus.
6. Preparing work schedules.

Qualifications include:

• One or more years as a Food Service Worker in the Missouri system with a high school diploma or equivalent, OR
• Three or more years of commercial or institutional cooking experience with supervisory roles, OR
• An Associate Degree, OR
• Four years of food service experience (substitutions possible).

Additional requirements:

• Valid vehicle operator’s license.
• Relevant college credits in food-related fields may substitute for experience.
