Job summary

Hastings ISD 200 is seeking a Food Service Substitute to support school meals operations. The role involves serving food, cleaning duties, and adherence to HACCP guidelines in a hot, humid, and busy kitchen environment.

The position is non-contracted and non-benefits eligible, with a starting wage of $17.50 per hour. Candidates must be able to read English, follow instructions, and handle physical tasks including lifting up to 40 pounds.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and communicate in English.
• Follow instructions and take initiative in performance of assigned tasks.
• Adapt to sudden/unpredictable changes in day’s tasks or work flow.
• Accurately count, weigh, and measure.
• Physical ability to walk, stoop, stand, twist, reach, and squat regularly.
• Physical ability to use hands and fingers dexterously.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently.

Responsibilities

• Interact with staff, students, faculty, visitors, and co-workers in a pleasant and professional manner.
• Complete tasks as assigned by kitchen lead cook or in-charge individual.
• Serve food according to recipe portion or as instructed.
• Wash trays, pans, and other items using dish machine or three (3) compartment sink.
• Disassemble serving line and clean serving area.
• Assist in total kitchen clean up.
• Perform cleaning tasks as assigned.
• Performs all tasks in accordance with HACCP guidelines.
