Job summary

Mesquite ISD is seeking a dedicated kitchen staff member to prepare quality meals for students in a busy school kitchen. You will follow tested recipes, maintain sanitation standards, and ensure accurate portions and safe food production.

You will work under the Food & Nutrition Services Manager, maintaining records and HACCP practices, ensuring timely meal service while upholding district health codes and policies.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret recipes to prepare quantities.
• Follow oral instructions for food preparation and safety procedures.
• Health Department Food Handlers Card required within 30 days of employment.
• Completion of accredited sanitation course and maintain certification.
• Must have completed and maintain the Managers Certification.
• Certifications must be kept current.

Responsibilities

• Prepare quality food according to planned menus and tested recipes.
• Assist with storage and care of food items and supplies; maintain a clean storage area.
• Care for and use equipment safely and efficiently.
• Serve food according to meal schedules and procedures.
• Follow procedures to ensure quality, cleanliness, health, and safety.
• Record cashier functions accurately.
• Record food requisitions and orders of supplies; document accurately.
• Maintain personal appearance and hygiene.
• Follow FNS Handbook chain of command.
• Promote teamwork and positive staff interactions.
• Be available for work consistently with minimal unplanned absences.
• Ensure items prepared and served per recipes and instructions.
• Complete Kitchen Safety Technician checklists on time.
• Review production sheets for accuracy and timeliness.
• Assist with HACCP training and safety standards.
