Job summary

Mesquite ISD seeks a FNS Specialist - Kitchen Safety Technician (WMHS) to prepare quality meals, maintain sanitation, and ensure food safety compliance across a school nutrition program. The role emphasizes following standardized recipes, safe equipment use, and timely service.

The candidate will help ensure HACCP compliance, maintain records, and support kitchen managers with safety training and daily checklists. Strong communication and reliability are essential for this non-exempt position.

Qualifications

Must read and interpret recipes.
Ability to follow oral instructions for food prep and safety procedures.
Certified fitness evaluation.
Health Department Food Handlers Card within 30 days of employment.
Completion of an accredited sanitation course and maintain certification.
Must have completed and maintain the Managers Certification.

Responsibilities

Prepare quality food according to a planned menu of tested recipes.
Assist with storage and care of food items; keep storage area clean and organized.
Care for and use kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Serve food according to meal schedules and policies.
Follow procedures to meet quality, cleanliness, health, and safety standards.
