Job summary

ECI Management Group seeks an experienced Food Service General Manager to oversee dining operations at the University of North Texas at Dallas. The role requires strong leadership, finance literacy, and a focus on customer service across residential dining, retail cafés, and catering.

You will manage staff, control costs, ensure compliance with health and safety standards, and drive operational improvements to maximize profitability while maintaining exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of food service management experience.
• Experience managing high-volume food service or multiple dining operations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of food cost controls, labor management, purchasing, and inventory procedures.
• Experience with scheduling, payroll, and POS systems.
• Solid understanding of food safety and sanitation requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of campus dining facilities, including residential dining, retail cafés, coffee service, and catering.
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise food service staff and management.
• Maintain relationships with university administration, faculty, students, and ECI leadership.
• Monitor food costs, labor costs, purchasing, inventory, and overall financial performance.
• Ensure inventory counts are completed and submitted on schedule.
• Manage food purchasing, vendor relationships, and product deliveries.
• Ensure compliance with health regulations, food safety standards, and company policies.
• Oversee catering events, including planning, staffing, execution, and customer satisfaction.
• Maintain high standards for food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and customer service.
• Ensure proper cash handling, POS procedures, deposits, and financial accountability.
• Develop and implement operational improvements to increase efficiency and profitability.
• Address employee performance concerns and maintain a professional, respectful work environment.
• Communicate regularly with the District Manager regarding operations, staffing, financial results, and campus needs.
