Job Description

The Food Service Director is a management position responsible for developing and executing dining solutions to meet customer needs and tastes. Oversees and manages dining operations where customers order prepared foods from a menu.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Leadership
    • Lead, mentor, engage and develop teams to maximize their contributions, including recruiting, assessing, training, coaching and managing performance.
    • Ensure food services connect appropriately to the Executional Framework.
    • Coach employees by creating a shared understanding of objectives and execution strategies.
    • Reward and recognize employees.
    • Ensure safety and sanitation standards in all operations.
  2. Client Relationship
    • Identify client needs and communicate operational progress effectively.
  3. Financial Performance
    • Adopt Aramark processes and systems.
    • Build revenue and manage budgets, including cost controls for food, beverage, and labor.
    • Maintain P&L statements.
    • Achieve food and labor targets.
    • Manage resources to ensure quality and cost control within budgetary guidelines.
  4. Productivity
    • Implement and maintain Aramark initiatives for labor and food.
    • Create value through efficient operations, cost controls, and profit management.
    • Ensure compliance with Operational Excellence fundamentals.
    • Oversee operations related to production, distribution, and food service.
  5. Compliance
    • Maintain a safe and healthy environment.
    • Comply with all applicable policies, rules, and regulations.
  6. Key Responsibilities
    • Establish systems for ordering, receiving, storing, preparing, and serving food, along with menu planning and development.
    • Develop operational forecasts and explain variances.
    • Ensure sanitation and safety standards are met.
    • Supervise personnel regarding production, merchandising, quality, cost control, labor management, and training.
    • Recruit, hire, develop, and retain staff.
    • Conduct inventory and maintain records per standards.
    • Interact with client management and maintain effective relations.
    • Participate in sales and contract negotiations.
    • Identify opportunities for new products and services to support growth and retention.
  7. Additional Responsibilities
    • Manage front-of-house operations.
    • Develop and implement food service plans aligned with client mission and vision, including sustainable practices.

Qualifications
  • At least 4 years of experience.
  • 1-3 years in a management role.
  • Previous experience in food service.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective client and customer relationships.
  • Excellent customer service skills using Aramark's standard model.
  • Ability to work effectively with other departments.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lb.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
