Job summary

Elior School Dining is seeking a motivated food service director to lead a school dining program, ensuring timely meals for students, faculty, and clients. You will oversee a team of food service staff and manage the department end-to-end.

The role requires coordinating operations, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with culinary and safety standards, while maintaining strong communication with district leadership and other departments.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience coordinating food service operations.
• Experience with industrial cooking.
• Excellent communication with hourly staff and company executives.
• Ability to manage in a diverse environment with a focus on client and customer satisfaction.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications (MS Office).

Job description

The Role at a glance:

We are looking to add a motivated, effective food service director to our School Dining team. As a food service director, you will have the opportunity to lead a talented team of food service workers and manage all aspects of a food service department to ensure that students, faculty and clients never miss a meal.

What you’ll be doing:

• Managing all functions of the food service department and its resources.
• Manage and lead a team of associates, including hiring and training new employees.
• Ensuring that staff meet all culinary, safety, and sanitation standards and regulations.
• Budgeting for the department, including directly purchasing ingredients and ensuring the account meets all targets and forecasts.
• Conferring with the district manager or other departments regarding the technical and administrative aspects of dining service.

What we’re looking for:

Must-haves:

• At least two years of experience coordinating food service operations.
• Previous experience with industrial cooking.
• Excellent communication skills and experience communicating with both hourly staff and company executives.
• The ability to manage in a diverse environment with a strong focus on client and customer services and satisfaction.
• Experience with and knowledge of all Microsoft Office suite applications.

Nice-to-haves:

• Previous school dining experience under NSLP
• Previous experience in food service contract management
• ServSafe and/or HACCP certification

Compensation Range

Up to $73,000
