Elior School Dining is seeking an Assistant Food Service Director for our School Dining team in Charlotte & Raleigh. You will lead a talented staff and manage all aspects of the dining department to ensure students, faculty and clients never miss a meal.

This role involves travel across North Carolina and requires strong leadership, budgeting, and compliance with safety and sanitation standards. Join a nationwide team dedicated to fresh food and student-focused dining.

Qualifications

• Two+ years coordinating food service operations experience.
• Experience with industrial cooking.
• Excellent communication with hourly staff and executives.
• Ability to manage in a diverse environment with strong client focus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all functions of the school dining department and resources.
• Lead and train a team of associates, including recruitment and onboarding.
• Ensure culinary, safety and sanitation standards are met.
• Prepare and monitor budgets; purchase ingredients and track targets/forecasts.
• Coordinate with district management on dining service operations.

The Role at a glance:

We are looking to add a motivated, effective assistant food service director to our School Dining team in Charlotte & Raleigh. As an assistant food service director, you will have the opportunity to lead a talented team of food service workers and manage all aspects of a food service department to ensure that students, faculty and clients never miss a meal.

This position will require some traveling throughout North Carolina with overnight stays

What you'll be doing:

• Managing all functions of the food service department and its resources.
• Manage and lead a team of associates, including hiring and training new employees.
• Ensuring that staff meet all culinary, safety, and sanitation standards and regulations.
• Budgeting for the department, including directly purchasing ingredients and ensuring the account meets all targets and forecasts.
• Conferring with the district manager or other departments regarding the technical and administrative aspects of dining service.

What we're looking for:

Must-haves:

• At least two years of experience coordinating food service operations.
• Previous experience with industrial cooking.
• Excellent communication skills and experience communicating with both hourly staff and company executives.
• The ability to manage in a diverse environment with a strong focus on client and customer services and satisfaction.
• Experience with and knowledge of all Microsoft Office suite applications.

Nice-to-haves:

• Previous experience in school dining under NSLP
• Previous experience in food service contract management
• ServSafe and/or HACCP certification

Compensation Range

Up to $57,000 depending on experience
