Job summary

The New Jewish Home on the Manhattan campus is seeking part-time Food Service Workers to join the Food and Nutrition Department. The role involves a 15-hour work week scheduled across 2 days, on the Upper West Side in Manhattan.

Responsibilities include assisting with storage, portioning and serving, maintaining a clean and sanitary workspace, washing small wares, and preparing cold foods and nourishment as needed. The schedule is variable to meet resident needs.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of food preparation and handling technique.
• Able to execute various food service assignments.
• Able to work as a team member, can work independently given the proper direction.
• Provide a clean, safe and neat environment for residents, self and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the storage preparation, portioning and serving food.
• Cleans immediate work areas and maintains clean and sanitary work environment
• Washing of small wares and equipment, conforming to all sanitary codes and standards
• Prepares cold foods, salads and nourishment as needed or required
• Performs other related duties as required.
