Job summary

Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) seeks a Food Service Assistant for Williamsport High School. The role supports daily meal service, tray-line operations, and kitchen cleanup in a school setting.

The position is 5.75 hours per day, 10 months, with hours from 8:15 am to 2:30 pm and a 30-minute break. Serv-Safe certification is preferred or obtainable within one year of employment. Reports to the Assistant Supervisor of Food and Nutrition Services.

Qualifications

• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Serv-Safe Certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Willingness to be assigned at any site within base operation.
• Regular and predictable attendance essential.
• Ability to meet physical requirements: standing, lifting, stooping, bending, reaching.
• Loading and transporting meals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and/or assist in preparing food as assigned.
• Complete clean-up and dishwashing duties as assigned.
• Report food supply needs and problems to the Site Supervisor.
• Serve food to students and adults using portion control standards.
• Maintain clean work area.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely to avoid damage.
• Assist with any phase of kitchen operations.
• Operate computerized cash register system.
• Adhere to health and safety policies.
• Adhere to procedures for students with special dietary needs.
• Attend mandatory training as required.
• Support the WCPS Food & Nutrition Services department's mission.
• Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• Ability to work cooperatively with others, accept direction, assume leadership responsibility and complete tasks as assigned.
