Job summary

Washington County Public Schools seeks a Food Service Assistant for Paramount Elementary School (Northern Middle Base). This part-time role runs 3.75 hours per day during a 10-month school year (7:00am–10:45am), reporting to the Assistant Supervisor of Food and Nutrition Services.

Responsibilities include food preparation assistance, cleaning, serving meals, inventory reporting, and operating the cash register.

Qualifications

• Serv-Safe Certification within 1 year of employment.
• Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
• Willingness to be assigned at any site within the base operation.
• Basic computer skills and using a cash register.

• Prepare and/or assist in preparing food as assigned.
• Complete clean-up and dishwashing duties as assigned.
• Report food supply needs to the Site Supervisor.
• Serve food to students and adults with portion control.
• Maintain a clean work area and adhere to safety rules.
• Operate kitchen equipment properly and safely.
• Assist with all phases of kitchen operations.
• Operate computerized cash register system.
• Adhere to health, safety, and dietary policy requirements.
• Attend mandatory training and support WCPS mission.

Grade 4 of the ESP Salary Scale ($17.18 – $31.07)

• Ability to work cooperatively with others, accept direction, assume leadership responsibility and complete tasks as assigned.
• Serv-Safe Certification or the ability to obtain Serv-Safe Food Handler Certification within 1 year of employment and to keep current throughout employment.
• Willingness to be assigned at any site within the base operation.
• Regular and predictable attendance which is an essential function of this position.
• Ability to meet physical requirements: prolonged standing; physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials; stooping, bending and reaching; tolerate noisy, crowded environment, food odors,and temperature variations;and loading and transporting of meals.
