Job summary

Cape Breton University in Sydney, NS is seeking a Food Service Worker to prepare, present and serve meals while maintaining high quality and presentation standards.

Responsibilities include prep work, equipment transport, safe food storage, daily setup, cleaning, customer service, and temperature control. Cashier duties are possible; FoodSafe Level 1 is required and English proficiency is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have FoodSafe Level 1 Certification.
• Familiar with cash register operation is an asset.
• Strong time management and organizational skills for heavy workloads.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Previous food service experience in healthcare, hotel, restaurant or fast food is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, wash, peel, cut and portion fruits/vegetables.
• Carry pans, kettles and trays between stations safely.
• Store food properly with dating and rotation.
• Set up daily items for purchase and serve customers.
• Perform cleaning duties and assist with supplies and equipment.
• Follow recipes and production standards for quality and temperature.
• Notify cooks if temperatures are not within acceptable limits.
• Provide friendly service including cashiering and line serving.
• Address customer concerns and relay information to supervisor.
• Ensure sanitation and safety compliance in all areas.
