Overview
Assist in the timely preparation, service, and delivery of meals and snacks. Aid in daily or scheduled cleaning and sanitation of equipment, dishes, floors, and utensils following established policies and procedures. Ensure proper storage of all foods.
Responsibilities
- Prepare special items, desserts, fruits, pureed foods, and thickened fluids according to safety, sanitation, and preparation policies and procedures, including dress code. Follow correct hand washing and glove procedures.
- Assist in maintaining order and cleanliness in coolers, freezers, and storerooms while putting up food using FIFO rotation.
- Set up tray line and assemble trays for meal service promptly, considering diet orders, select menus, food and beverage preferences, eye appeal, and food quality. Keep talk to a minimum during assembly. Follow correct policies for storing, labeling, and using leftovers.
- Deliver meals to hospital patients using two patient identifiers. Use a friendly tone, smile, and inquire if the patient needs anything else or is enjoying their food. Communicate problems or physical needs to nursing staff and food complaints to food service management.
- Prepare dirty trays, plates, glasses, and silverware for dishwashing. Operate dish machine correctly, check and record water temperatures, and take corrective actions as needed. Keep the machine clean and well-maintained. Use proper ware washing procedures, including air drying, glove use, and water spill cleanup, for safety. Store clean dishes and utensils correctly.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and polish of the kitchen and equipment as per policy. Use chemicals safely. Utilize downtime to ensure all areas, including utility carts, are clean. Keep the chemical room organized and pathways to fire equipment clear.

Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent preferred. On-the-job training provided; no previous experience required.
Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and understand English.
