Assist in the timely preparation, service, and delivery of meals and snacks; assist in daily or scheduled cleaning and sanitation of equipment, dishes, floors, and utensils following established policies and procedures. Assist in ensuring proper storage of all foods.

1. Prepares special items, desserts, fruits, pureed foods, and thickened fluids according to safety, sanitation, and preparation policies and procedures, following dress code. Uses correct hand washing and glove procedures.
2. Maintains order and cleanliness in coolers, freezers, and storerooms while putting up food using FIFO rotation.
3. Sets up tray line and assembles trays for meal service promptly, considering diet orders, menu choices, food preferences, eye appeal, and quality. Follows correct policies for storing, labeling, and using leftovers.
4. Delivers meals to hospital patients using two patient identifiers, friendly tone, and a smile; checks if patients need anything else and if they are enjoying their food. Communicates problems or needs to nursing staff and food service management.
5. Prepares dirty trays, plates, glasses, and silverware for dishwashing; operates dish machine correctly, checks water temperatures, and records them. Maintains the machine and stores clean dishes and utensils properly.
6. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and equipment, using chemicals safely. Uses downtime productively to clean all areas, including utility carts. Keeps the chemical room organized and pathways clear.
7. Adheres to performance, patient, employee satisfaction, and financial standards as outlined in evaluations.
8. Follows compliance requirements and all policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.
9. Creates positive relationships with patients, families, coworkers, and self, adhering to DCH Behavioral Standards.
10. Uses electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management systems, and intranet as required.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

High School diploma or equivalent preferred; on-the-job training provided. No previous experience required.

Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and understand English.
