Job summary

USVETS Las Vegas is hiring an experienced Food Service Worker to oversee the day-to-day cleanliness and maintenance of the server line. The role reports to the Food Service Coordinator and involves preparing simple items, serving meals, and ensuring nutrition standards for clients.

The position requires 3–6 months in food handling, ability to work with diverse veterans and staff, strong communication skills, and a valid State Food Handlers Health Card.

Qualifications

• Three to six months in food handling preferred.
• Experience working with homeless veterans preferred.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse group of residents, staff, and community members.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Must possess State Food Handlers Health Card.
• Must be knowledgeable of food handling procedures and protocols.
• Driver license with no violations on driving record for past 3 years required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day cleanliness and maintenance of the server line.
• Operate the food service line and set up for serving.
• Prepare simple items and assist with vegetables, fruits, and other foods.
• Serve food according to funders' nutritional requirements.
• Assist with packing and loading food for transport to USVETS events.
• Clean work areas, wash dishes, and store equipment; perform general cleanup.

The Food Service Worker for U.S.VETS is responsible for overseeing the day-to‑day cleanliness and maintenance of server line. This position reports directly to the Food Service Coordinator

Responsibilities:

• Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
• Prepares simple food items, such as sandwiches, toast, coffee, using proper food handling techniques; may assistant with the preparation of vegetables, fresh fruits and other foods.
• Serves food according to funders and clients nutritional requirements.
• Responsible for the operation of the food service line.
• Sets up for serving and serves a wide variety of meals.
• Participates in the cleaning and storing of dishes, utensils, food service equipment, and food supplies.
• Cleans work areas and disposes of refuse.
• Assist with packaging and loading food for transport to U.S.VETS functions.
• Sweeps floors, wipes tables and counters, fills supplies for next day and performs general clean-up tasks.
• May perform baking duties as necessary.
• Supervises Veteran helpers on workstations or community service
• Performs assigned duties in a safe manner.
• Performs related duties as assigned
