Job summary

Shreveport Rehabilitation Hospital is seeking a prep cook to support patient meals, employees, and special events with safe, tasty food served at proper temperatures in a clean, inviting presentation.

You will follow recipes, prepare ingredients, and collaborate with cooking staff to ensure timely meal service across shifts. Applicants should have ServSafe or equivalent certification and good communications, organization, and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Prep Cook or Cook preferred, but not required.
• Ability to understand and execute recipes and instructions in detail.
• Food safety certifications as required by jurisdiction (ServSafe).
• Work alongside Cooking staff to prep for daily meal service.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and service of meals for patients and staff.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized kitchen area following standards.
• Deliver food to patient floors and ensure proper temperatures.
• Document temperature readings and support equipment cleaning.

Job description

Assistswith preparation and service of food using proper food handling and food safety techniques for patients,employeesandspecial events, resulting in foods that taste good, are served at the proper temperature, and inan attractive mannerin accordance withestablished standards. Maintains a clean and safe workingenvironmentin accordance withestablished standards. Other dutiesinclude:Taking out the trash, Ensuring the availability of clean dishes, utensils, and glassware, delivering food to the patient floors,restockitems,cleanappliancesand machines. sweeping and mopping floors. Document temperature readings of thedishmachineduring each shift.

Schedule:

This position requires flexibility to work a combination of weekdays and weekends. Candidates should have open availability to accommodate varying schedules.

MinimumQualifications:

• Experience as aPrep Cook orCook preferred, but notrequired.
• Ability to understand and execute recipes and instructions in detail.
• Food safety certifications as required byjurisdiction. (ServSafe)
