Job summary

Shreveport Rehabilitation Hospital in Shreveport, LA is seeking a dedicated prep cook to support clinical nutrition by preparing meals for patients, staff, and visitors. This is a full-time role located on-site within a healthcare setting.

The position emphasizes following recipes, maintaining food safety and sanitation, and delivering meals at the correct temperatures while collaborating with hospital dining staff. Growth opportunities exist in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience as Prep Cook or Cook preferred, but not required.
• Ability to understand and execute recipes and instructions in detail.
• Food safety certifications as required by jurisdiction. (ServSafe)

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation and service of food for patients, staff, and events.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment per established standards.
• Take out trash and ensure the availability of clean dishes, utensils, and glassware.
• Deliver food to patient floors, restock items, and clean appliances and machines.

Job description

Assistswith preparation and service of food using proper food handling and food safety techniques for patients,employeesandspecial events, resulting in foods that taste good, are served at the proper temperature, and inan attractive mannerin accordance withestablished standards. Maintains a clean and safe workingenvironmentin accordance withestablished standards. Other dutiesinclude:Taking out the trash, Ensuring the availability of clean dishes, utensils, and glassware, delivering food to the patient floors,restockitems,cleanappliancesand machines. sweeping and mopping floors. Document temperature readings of thedishmachineduring each shift.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 1030am - 7pm

MinimumQualifications:

• Experience as aPrep Cook orCook preferred, but notrequired.
• Ability to understand and execute recipes and instructions in detail.
• Food safety certifications as required byjurisdiction. (ServSafe)
• Work alongside Cooking staff to prep for daily meal service.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience in healthcare food service desired.
