Job summary

Perdue Farms is seeking a Food Safety & Quality Assurance Intern in Salisbury, MD for a 10–12 week immersive program. You will work with FSQA professionals on projects impacting microbial performance and moisture optimization, gaining hands-on experience in food safety systems.

You’ll follow testing protocols, compile facility data, and present results to senior leaders, while developing knowledge in microbial interventions and quality assurance processes.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a Master’s program focused on food science, food safety or food microbiology.
• Minimum GPA 3.0.
• Prior laboratory experience in microbiology or chemistry.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software.
• Strong analytical, communication and time management skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Utilize predefined testing protocols for microbiological and moisture testing in Perdue Foods Harvest facilities.
• Compile data from all facilities and analyze retained water declarations.
• Report testing results and present outcomes to the senior leadership team.
• Gain knowledge on microbial interventions, pathogen results and moisture retention for quality metrics.
