Job Description:

This position provides technical leadership in the implementation of Food Safety elements within the Quality Management Process (QMP). It involves driving project management and continuous improvement of the site’s Quality & Food Safety (Q&FS) Management systems, ensuring the reliable delivery of products that meet all external legislative requirements and internal global standards. The QFS Director designates this role as the Food Safety Team Leader at the site.

What are we looking for?

• Minimum qualifications: BS degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, or related technical field, with internship experience.

• Experience in quality and food safety within a manufacturing environment, or a combination of education and at least 5 years of relevant manufacturing/quality experience.

• Demonstrated leadership skills in leading or influencing others.

• Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time.

• At least 3 years of experience in various quality-related areas such as raw materials, distribution, manufacturing, or managing quality and food safety management systems at a manufacturing site.

• Proven success in leading a team.

• Knowledge of food safety risks, identification, management, HACCP, and prerequisite controls.

• Experience with ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems, GMP, GLP, food allergens, pest control, sanitation, and food safety regulations.

• Experience with GFSI Quality Systems such as SQF, BRC, FSSC22000, ISO9000, or ISO17025.

• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and lead change effectively.

What will be your key responsibilities?

• Develop and implement food safety training programs for the site and support functions (HACCP, Advanced Safety).

• Ensure governance of Mars internal standards and prerequisite programs, including microbiological verification, environmental programs, mycotoxin management, allergens, cleaning, and sanitation.

• Oversee HACCP and Food Safety Plan compliance within the site and contribute to value stream activities.

• Lead the Food Safety Team at the site, managing validation of CCP/OPRP preventive controls programs.

• Provide site input to Material Risk Assessments (MRAs).

• Lead root cause analysis of food safety incidents and implement corrective/preventive actions.

• Manage analytical programs, including training and round robin testing.

• Partner with the Value Stream Lead to represent R&D in change management and handover meetings, ensuring food safety deliverables.

• Translate external food safety regulations and customer requirements into site procedures and best practices.
