Job summary

theWit Hotel in Chicago’s Loop is seeking an energetic Food Runner to join our front-of-house team. You will deliver food promptly and accurately, ensuring guest satisfaction and seamless communication between the kitchen and service staff.

Responsibilities include verifying orders, describing menu items to guests, and assisting with maintaining cleanliness and station readiness in a high-volume setting.

Qualifications

• Restaurant or hospitality experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Deliver food orders from the kitchen to guests quickly, accurately, and according to restaurant standards.
• Verify food orders for accuracy, presentation, and completeness before leaving the kitchen.
• Communicate effectively with servers, kitchen staff, and management regarding guest needs and order modifications.
• Describe menu items and answer basic guest questions when delivering food.
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of dining areas, service stations, and expo areas.
• Support servers by refilling water, clearing plates, and assisting with guest requests as needed.
• Ensure all food is presented according to quality and presentation standards.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines.
• Maintain a positive, professional, and guest-focused attitude at all times.
• Assist with opening, closing, and side work duties as assigned.
