Job summary

Dietz & Watson is seeking experienced Maintenance Mechanics to ensure reliable operation of food processing and packaging equipment in a fast-paced plant environment.

You will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automated production systems, conveyors, pumps, and control systems, with emphasis on safety and quality standards. Experience with material handling equipment and PLC-controlled machinery is preferred, and shift work may be required in a refrigerated setting.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of maintenance experience in a food processing, manufacturing, packaging, or industrial production environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated manufacturing systems.
• Experience troubleshooting production equipment, conveyors, packaging machines, pumps, motors, and control systems.
• Ability to diagnose equipment issues efficiently and implement effective corrective actions.
• Experience working with PLC-controlled machinery is preferred.
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
• Familiarity with welding, fabrication, and equipment installation is preferred.
• Experience maintaining material handling equipment, including electric pallet jacks, is highly desirable.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and food safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect machinery and equipment for defects and wear.
• Repair production or processing equipment and troubleshoot automated systems.
• Troubleshoot and analyze complex problems and implement safe remedies.
• Listen for unusual sounds to detect malfunctions.
• Collaborate with maintenance and engineering staff to resolve issues.
• Dismantle machines and install repaired parts or replacements.
• Clean and lubricate mechanical components and bearings.
• Maintain operations of pneumatic, hydraulic, and related systems.
• Install and repair electrical components and wiring on machinery.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
• Work independently and manage workload in a fast-paced environment.
• Work with material handling equipment daily.
• Operate in cold storage environments around industrial machinery.
