Job summary

Shorefront Jewish Community Council (SJCC) seeks a part-time Food Pantry Assistant to support warehouse operations, inventory control, and order fulfillment for the digital pantry. You will supervise volunteers, ensure safe, accurate packing, and maintain a clean, organized workspace in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include receiving deliveries, organizing stock, preparing pantry orders, and coordinating daily operations.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in food pantry operations, food distribution, warehousing, or a related setting preferred.
• Experience coordinating or directing volunteers or team members preferred.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn digital inventory and ordering systems.
• Familiarity with food safety, sanitation, and inventory management practices preferred.
• Ability to perform physical tasks associated with food pantry warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and assist with receiving and unloading food deliveries, directing volunteers in moving, sorting, organizing, and storing food products.
• Maintain an organized warehouse space with stocked shelves and properly stored products; ensure FIFO inventory rotation.
• Oversee volunteers assisting with stocking shelves, organizing storage areas, and maintaining inventory.
• Pull, pack, and organize food pantry orders for pickups and guests; coordinate advance orders for daily operations.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized pantry storage, shelving, refrigeration, and food preparation areas; ensure food safety procedures are followed.
• Provide daily direction to volunteers, assign tasks, monitor activities, and adapt assignments as needed.
• Report shortages, discrepancies, damaged products, and maintenance concerns to the supervisor.
